PM Modi at a roadshow in Ghatkopar/ Shadab Khan
Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a spectacular roadshow in Mumbai on Wednesday evening, bringing massive crowds to campaign for BJP and allied candidates ahead of the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. Thousands of passionate supporters lined the route to greet him.
The roadshow preceded polling in six Lok Sabha constituencies in Mumbai and seven others throughout Maharashtra on May 20, which marked the end of the state's fifth phase of elections. The event began at Ashok Silk Mills in Ghatkopar (West), North East Mumbai, at around 7 p.m. and lasted over an hour, ending at Parshawanath Chowk in Ghatkopar (East), reported PTI.
According to the report, earlier in the day, PM Modi addressed campaign rallies in Kalyan, Thane district, and Dindori, Nashik district, to promote the BJP.-Shiv Sena-NCP coalition's candidates.
Thousands of people lined the barricaded lanes of suburban Ghatkopar, waving BJP flags and cheering for PM Modi. Residents dressed in traditional attire from various sects greeted the Prime Minister along the road. Supporters held placards expressing gratitude for the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya and supporting Modi's leadership, the PTI report added.

The roadshow was attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and BJP candidates for the Mumbai North East and Mumbai North Central Lok Sabha constituencies, Mihir Kotecha and Ujjwal Nikam, respectively.
As a precaution, Mumbai Metro services between Jagruti Nagar and Ghatkopar stations were temporarily halted, with normal operations resumed later. Police also organised traffic diversions and road closures to ensure the event ran smoothly. During the event, there were closures on parts of Mahul-Ghatkopar and LBS roads from 2 pm to 10 pm, the report added.
The Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport Undertaking on Wednesday also announced diversions of several bus routes due to PM Modi's Mumbai roadshow. BEST, in their social media statements, said that the diversions remained in effect till the roadshow concluded.
During Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled visits to Mumbai, the Mumbai Police announced that drones, paragliders, balloons, kites, and remote-controlled microlight aircraft would not be allowed in the city. PM Modi, d on Friday, will speak at a public gathering in the same city, stated the reports.
