In a nod to religious and cultural fervour, a grand Navratri pandal, fashioned after the iconic Ram Temple in Ayodhya, is set to grace Bhavani Chowk in Thane city, according to a report in PTI. As the eagerly anticipated nine-day Navratri festival approaches, commencing on October 15 and culminating on October 24, this remarkable architectural endeavour aims to add a touch of divinity and celebration to the city.
Shiv Sena Member of Parliament and the son of Maharashtra's Chief Minister, Dr Srikant Shinde, enthusiastically revealed that the preparations for this unique structure were already in progress across various locations, including Pune, Karad, Shahapur, Bhandup, Jogeshwari, and more. The intricate and awe-inspiring design, inspired by the renowned Ram Temple in Ayodhya, will serve as a focal point for the festivities during the Navratri season.
This project is not just a local endeavour but a collective effort that involves the dedication of around 350 skilled and unskilled workers from various regions, including Maharashtra, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Kolkata.
"The work of preparing different parts of the structure was underway at Pune, Karad, Shahapur, Bhandup, Jogeshwari etc. At least 350 skilled and unskilled workers from Maharashtra, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Kolkata are involved in the construction, he was quoted as saying in the report.
CM Shinde directive on health facilities during Navratri
Navratri, a vibrant Hindu festival celebrated over nine nights, honours the divine feminine energy and is marked by music, dance, and religious rituals. Ahead of the festivities, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde urged the Dandiya organisers to prioritise the health and safety of attendees. During the nine days of Navratri, Maharashtra, including Mumbai, witnesses a multitude of Dandiya events being organised with the active involvement of multiple political parties.
While providing basic health facilities is common, there have been instances wherein these services were overlooked. CM Shinde issued the mandate to deploy primary healthcare facilities and fully equipped ambulances at all Dandiya event venues.
Grooving to the beats of Dandiya could lead to extortion and can potentially cause undue stress. Moreover, post-Covid-19, a decline in the immune systems of many individuals has been witnessed contributing to lifestyle disorders. In light of these concerns, CM Shinde emphasised on need for immediate medical attention in case of emergencies and thus has directed all District Collectors in the state to ensure that Dandiya event organisers provide access to medical facilities.
