The Central Railway is renumbering platforms at Panvel Railway Station in preparation for the upcoming Panvel Suburban Yard Remodelling project. On Tuesday, in a media statement, CR said that the move is aimed at streamlining operations and enhancing passenger experience.
According to the press statement, after the renumbering exercise, the Old platform no 1 will henceforth be known as the New platform no 3. Following that, the Old platform number 3 will be renumbered as New platform no 1. Meanwhile, the Old platform number 2 will retain its current designation as New platform 2.
The press statement also said that old platform number 4 would entirely be dismantled and subsequently surrendered, rendering it a non-operational platform.
"Central Railway has decided to change the platform numbers at Panvel Railway Station in view of Panvel Suburban Yard Remodelling work. Panvel Suburban Platforms will be will be renumbered as under:-

Old Platform No. 1 will be changed to New Platform No.3; Old Platform No. 2 will be New Platform No. 02 (Unchanged); Old Platform No 3 will be changed to New Platform No. 01 and Old Platform No. 04 will be dismantled and surrendered (No Platform)," said the Railway statement.
Passengers are urged to take note of these changes, which will come into effect as part of the preparations for the Panvel Suburban Yard Remodelling project, the statement said.
