In a shocking turn of events, Kalachowky cops detained a 23-year-old girl for allegedly killing her 55-year-old mother. According to the cops, The 23-year-old daughter was living with her mother's dead body for nearly three months.
The mother-daughter duo were staying in a building at Lalbaug. On Tuesday night, the deceased woman's brother went home to see her but he was forced to leave by his sister's daughter. A case of a missing person was registered following which the dead body was recovered from a cupboard, which was wrapped in plastic.
The 55-year-old woman was living with her daughter in Lalbaug for the last 16 years. After the passing of her husband in Virar, the woman's brother shifted her to Lalbaug so that she stays in a nearby area. To meet her daily expenses, her brother would give her money every month.

For the last three months, the woman's brother didn't see her. Every time he visited to see his sister, his niece would tell him that her mother is out or sleeping.
"On Tuesday night around 8 pm, the woman's nephew visited her house to meet her but again he was forced to go away by his cousin (woman's daughter)," an official of Kalachowky police station said.
The nephew immediately informed his father who suspected something was wrong and went to Kalachowky police station to file a complaint. Police rushed to the building and asked the daughter to open the door.
"Even when police visited her house, the daughter claimed her mother was sleeping. Police insisted and went inside. They sensed a pungent smell," another cop added.
During the search, the cops found a dead body, wrapped in a plastic bag inside the cupboard.
"The daughter couldn't explain to the police and was taken to the police station while the dead body was rushed to KEM hospital. The daughter kept making stories about knowing nothing of the dead body and kept changing her statement" another policeman said.
Meanwhile, the brother identified the dead body of his sister. The medical examination of the body revealed that the dead body is decomposed and must have been lying for around two to three months.
"The daughter was living with the body for the last few months and didn't even venture out often. We have detained the daughter for questioning" DCP (ZONE 4) Dr Pravin Mundhe said.
