Mumbai: Police officer arrested for abusing, assaulting female colleague

The Kurar police arrested an assistant police inspector (API) attached to EOW for allegedly abusing, assaulting, and molesting a woman police inspector attached to the same department last night.

The accused has been identified as API Deepak Baburao Deshmukh (49). According to the police sources, the accused officer was in a one-sided love affair with the victim and was mentally harassing her for last two years.

Based on the victim's complaint, the accused was transferred to another department.

After that the accused used to send messages and call the victim. He was mentally harassing her and started visiting her house in Kurar.

The victim then submitted a written complaint to the Kurar police a few months back, said an officer from the Kurar police station.

The accused was called for recording his statement, but he failed to appear.

Last night, the accused visited the complainant's house and started abusing and assaulting her. After which she called the police. The cops rushed to the spot and nabbed the accused.

He was booked and arrested under sections 354, 354 (d), 509, 452, 323, 351, 504, 506 (2) of IPC and IT Act section 67, the officer added.
