Mumbai: NDRF launches rescue operation to save JCB driver trapped near Versova bridge

After 12 hours, the JCB driver is still trapped inside the debris from the soil collapse near the Versova flyover in the Mira Bhayandar area. The soil collapse occurred on Wednesday night around 9:30 pm. The fire brigade and NDRF teams arrived at the scene and began the rescue operation.

The JCB driver was identified as Rakesh Kumar Yadav (32) who was trapped inside the debris of soil with JCB while digging soil. Around 6-7 people were trapped in the container were rescued by the locals on Wednesday night after the incident occurred.

According to the police officials, the incident occurred at around 9.30 pm while the JCB driver Ramesh Yadav was digging the soil of the Surya Pipeline work near the Versova flyover at Mira Bhayandar. Suddenly, the soil collapsed and a container with 6-7 people, JCB and JCB driver Yadav was trapped inside the soil.

The Police also rushed to the spot and started an investigation.

A police officer said, "The soil is almost 50 feet deep inside. The JCB driver Yadav is trapped inside it. It is expected that by 3 pm, the rescue operation will be complete. A risk was also raised of the collapse of soil again during the rescue operation. We are also taking help of the fire brigade, NDRF team, and local labourers to rescue driver Yadav."
