The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has arrested four persons and seized 1.840 kg of Alprazolam and 9,696 bottles of banned cough syrups in separate operations, an official told news agency PTI on Tuesday.
The NCB's Mumbai zonal unit seized 1.840 kg (15,000 tablets) of Alprazolam, which was to be shipped to the US from the city-based courier office on September 6, and arrested Lucknow-based financier Sameer S, the official told PTI.
In another operation, the anti-drug agency intercepted a vehicle in Bhiwandi town of neighbouring Thane district and recovered 75 cartons containing 8,497 bottles of banned cough syrup on September 28, the official told PTI.
The team arrested Ravish NA, an employee of the Bhiwandi-Nizampur Municipal Corporation and his carrier Akash G when they arrived at the transporter's office to receive the consignment, the official told PTI.

On Monday, the NCB recovered 1199 bottles of cough syrups from Dongri locality of south Mumbai and arrested one Riyaz B, the official told PTI.
The arrested accused were involved in cases of trafficking previously as well, the official told PTI.
Meanwhile, the Anti-Narcotics cell of Pune Police arrested three people and seized Mephedrone (MD) drugs worth Rs 2.14 crores on Sunday, police told ANI.
According to Crime Branch DCP Amol Zende, the accused have been identified as Subhash Mandal, Rauf Shaikh and Lalit Patil, reported ANI.
Acting on a tip-off, the Anti-Narcotics Cell of Pune Police laid a trap in the nearby area of Sasoon Hospital on Sunday and apprehended Subhash Mandal and recovered MD drugs weighing around 1 kg 71 gm from his possession, reported ANI.
"Later in the investigation, it was revealed that Rauf Shaikh who was working at a canteen situated in Sasoon Hospital and another accused Lalit Patil who was undergoing treatment in hospital for TB and currently serving jail term in Yerwada jail also involved in drug supplies," DCP Zende told ANI.
Zende also informed that they have sought custody of inmate Lalit Patil for further investigation, reported ANI.
Pune police have registered the case against all three accused in Bundgarden Police Station under the NDPS act, reported ANI.
