Mumbai Crime: ‘Was angry with daughter so smashed her head’

Three people, including the father, have been arrested for allegedly killing a 20-year-old woman and her 22-year-old husband. The cops have managed to arrest three people and are still searching for others. The father had planned the entire killing. He first slit his son-in-law's throat and dumped his body in a well while he strangulated his daughter in a car and dumped the body in Navi Mumbai. The entire plot was unearthed thanks to a piece of paper that had the mobile number of the deceased scribbled in his own handwriting.

The incident came to light on Saturday, October 14, when a few local boys had gone for a swim to a well inside Telecom Factory Colony, Govandi. One of the boys dived deep and felt a body below. They immediately informed the police. "We immediately rushed to the spot. His throat was slit," said an officer from Govandi police station. "We rushed the body to Shatabdi Hospital and filed and Accidental Death Report and initiated investigation," he added.

"Initially, we thought it's a case of robbery as there was no mobile phone or wallet on the deceased. We searched around 100 metres in the water and found a wallet in which there was a chit on which a mobile number was written. We initiated technical analysis of the number and found the number registered in the name of one Karan Ramesh Chandra Chaurasiya," said an officer.

The technical details and location were found to be from Dharavi. Call details confirmed he was in Delhi till October 13 and came to Mumbai on October 14. After extensive investigation and analysis, cops reached the house of Salman Khan, 18. Neighbours said he was living with his mother and father Gora Raisuddin Khan, 52.

Cops started interrogation and asked Salman and his father about Karan and his wife Gulnaz. Both gave evasive answers. When cops revealed to him that they have found Karan's body, he started acting in a suspicious manner. Cops took both to the police station and during sustained interrogation Gora Khan confessed to killing Karan.

Killed daughter too

After confessing to the murder of Karan, the cops kept asking about Gulnaz's whereabouts. After a few hours, her brother Salman confessed of killing her, too. He said they all took her in an Uber cab and strangled her with their bare hands and dumped her body near Kalamboli. A team of cops reached the spot and found a woman's body with the head smashed in. Gora Khan told cops he was angry with his daughter hence after killing her he smashed her head with a nearby rock.

"Till now we have arrested three people and detained minors in connection with the offence. The minors are friends of Salman who were called to threaten Karan. But Salman, his father and a friend Mohammed Kaif Naushad Khan were directly involved," said another officer. An offence has registered against them under IPC section 302 (murder) 201 (disappearance of evidence) and 34 (common intention).
