Mumbai: Crane hits bike, crushes 15-year-old girl to death

A 15-year-old girl from Naigaon died in an accident on the Western Express Highway near NESCO at Goregaon east on Sunday. Police said the deceased, Kirti Umesh Yadav, along with her sister Mamta, 17, and a friend, were going on a bike to Naigaon when a crane hit them.

The accident happened around 6.30 pm when the friend was on the way to drop them home at Rashmi Tower in Naigaon. The police said the trio fell on the road and Kirti was crushed under the tyre of the crane.

"Mamta and her friend sustained minor injuries. On the complaint of Mamata we have booked the crane driver under various sections of IPC. He has been arrested," said Vanrai Sub-Inspector Raosaheb Waghmude. The crane driver, Amarsingh Yadav, 23, has been charged for causing death by negligence and for rash driving.
