In a horrific incident, four women got trapped under debris after the ceiling of their room at home came crashing down on them in the wee hours on Thursday while they were asleep. Their parents managed to rescue three of them but the fourth succumbed to her injuries in hospital. The deceased woman, Sheetal Shivaji Pawar, 34, was a resident of Dadu Plaza society, located at Manvelpada at Virar East. Her parents managed to rescue her sisters Dipika, Ranjana and Neeta on time.
Speaking with mid-day, Sheetal's sister Dipika Ketlekar said, "I came to stay at my parent's house a few days ago. Every night we sisters would chat till late and then go in to sleep. We did the same on Wednesday. Around 3.30 am, we heard a very loud noise and were all got stuck under the debris."

According to Dipika, her parents managed to rescue three of them soon after, but it took around 10 minutes to get to Sheetal and she remained stuck under the debris. "When we managed to rescue her she complained of having difficulty in breathing and we rushed her to the nearest hospital. She died during treatment⦠we lost our sister," Dipika said. Senior Police Inspector Rajendra Kamble of Virar police station said, "We have registered an Accidental Death Report in the case and have started investigations."
