Thanks to the indefatigable efforts of the Aarey police, the person involved in a hit-and-run incident where two forest guards were seriously injured near Lotus lake at Aarey Milk Colony on February 16 has been nabbed.

Assistant Police Inspector Rameshwar Ghuge of the Aarey police station said, "Finding the suspect was a challenge, but thanks to our team's efforts, Mukesh Ghanshyam Yadav, a Jogeshwari resident, was arrested in connection with the hit-and-run incident. The accused was arrested under several sections of the Indian Penal Code and presented before the court, which subsequently granted him bail."

Shekhar Dombe, a senior police inspector at the Aarey police station, personally pursued the case and kept in touch with the investigation officer to identify the accused's vehicle. Yadav was arrested on March 5 while his tempo has been seized.

This reporter was informed by sources at the police station that it was challenging to pinpoint the offender since several hours of CCTV footage had to be viewed.

On February 18, mid-day reported on the hit-and-run, which occurred a week after this newspaper highlighted how the new speed breaker-less roads were endangering wildlife and humans at the colony. The motorbike-borne Forester Sharad Dhuri and Forest Guard Pravin Patil were on their way back to office when the incident occurred. They were rushed to SevenHills Hospital in Andheri East for treatment.
