The Maharashtra government has signed MoUs worth Rs 1.37 lakh crore at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, for investment in the state, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said on Wednesday.
This investment would create over 1 lakh jobs in Maharashtra, said Shinde after returning from Davos.
"It is for the first time that Maharashtra has signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) of a record investment from foreign and national players. Maharashtra is the first choice of investors because it has a suitable atmosphere for industrial growth and skilled human resources are available here," he said.

According to the break-up, Rs 54,276 crore will be invested in high-tech and infrastructure projects by six companies; Rs 46,800 crore in the energy and electric vehicle sectors; Rs 32,414 crore in information technology, fintech and data centres; Rs 2,200 crore in steel manufacturing; and Rs 1,900 crore in agriculture and
food processing.
Mumbai signed a knowledge partnership agreement with California University for a smart city project. Another agreement was signed with the WEF for urban transformation and new economy and society. The Swiss India Chamber of Commerce will collaborate with the state for investment and trade.
