Eighty three-year-old Adik Shirodkar was a trusted aide of late Shiv Sena Supremo Bal Thackeray. He has been assigned the difficult task of executing his will that has led Thackeray's elder son, Jaidev, to go to court against his estranged brother Uddhav.

Jaidev had questioned the English language in which the will was written. But advocate Adik Shirodkar told SUNDAY MiD DAY that Thackeray's will was written in English because the lawyer who drafted the will is a Christian. He has also refuted Jaidev's claim that his father was not in control of his senses when he wrote the will, arguing that Balasaheb's own doctor, Dr Jalil Parkar had signed the will. "Thackeray knew English. He would also carry an electronic dictionary. Apart from interacting with local journalists, he often interacted with foreign journalists and it was always in English," said Shirodkar.

Commenting on Jaidev's name not being there in the will he said, "There are times, when people leave you and hence they don't find a place in the will. And later such people desire for things that they haven't got. I am the executor of the will and will try my best to see that it is implemented in its original form." When asked whether he's close to Uddhav he said, "I am close to Raj too." Commenting on Jaidev, the octogenarian said, "I don't know what went wrong, but I had seen his caring side too. I remember I had a minor accident once. There were no mobiles then and he kept calling my house to confirm whether I had reached safely."
