Maharashtra Legislative Assembly speaker Babasaheb Kupekar on Thursday said that the resignation of Congress MLA Nana Patole has been accepted.
Patole, who hails from Vidarbha region, had during the winter session of the state legislature in Nagpur last year announced that he was resigning from the House over the State government's apathetic attitude towards crucial issues like Vidarbha's development and farmers' suicides in the region.
When the interim budget session commenced on March 16, opposition Shiv Sena-BJP MLAs asked the Speaker about the fate of Patole's resignation.
Kupekar declared that an announcement would be made on the last day of the session on March 19.
Accordingly, Kupekar today announced that Patole's resignation had been accepted.
