In a report on July 4, we had highlighted the shortage of drinking water, encroachments on footpaths, the poor condition of roads and the absence of public toilets in slums.
Residents say they had hoped that things would take a turn for the better in light of the upcoming BMC election, but that was just wishful thinking.
Durable, smooth roads are nowhere in sight and pavements still don't belong to pedestrians. Also, garbage piles up for days on roads. Devendra Kumar Jain, assistant civic commissioner of the ward, didn't respond to mid-day's calls.
