A hole dug in the boundary wall of Juhu Aerodrome has set the alarm bells ringing among the city's security forces. The hole is big enough to allow a man through the wall into the air strip run by Pawan Hans, which is considered a sensitive and high-security area.

The matter came to light yesterday, after security personnel patrolling there spotted the hole towards the north-end of the property. "The hole was found in the boundary wall adjoining the Nehru Nagar slums. The exact spot was close to the Anna chawl," said an officer from Juhu police station, where an FIR was lodged.

Senior Police Inspector Sunil Ghosalkar of Juhu police station confirmed that an FIR was registered under Sections 447 (criminal trespass), 427 (Mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC against unidentified persons.

Sources said, "Following the incident, security guards alerted the security supervisor, who then informed the Juhu police. The Juhu police, Anti-Terror Cell and the Crime Branch are monitoring the situation. Prima facie, it looks like an act of mischief but it is being investigated."

Despite repeated attempts to contact officials at Pawan Hans and the Airport Authority of India, they remained unavailable for comment.
