Amidst the chaos surrounding the demonetised currency in Mumbai and across the country, a Worli resident accidentally ended up damaging his Rs 2000 note. According to a report by Mumbai Mirror, Nishad Husain Jafri, a key maker by trade, spent in Sunday in vain by going from one bank to another.

Much to his chagrin, no bank is willing to take it back and exchange it since they are unaware of what procedure to undertake in case new notes are damaged.

Jafri stood in the queue for over 8 hours on Saturday to exchange the scrapped currency notes for new ones, after his wife getting diagnosed with lumps in the breast in his hometown, Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh. He ended up damaging the currency in a mad rush to deposit the money in his wife's bank account.
