In the second incident of a human- crocodile conflict a fisherman who had illegally entered the water of Powai lake was attacked by a crocodile on March 28 during the day time
A fisherman who had illegally entered Powai lake for fishing was was lucky to survive after he was attacked by a crocodile. The incident took place on March 28.
The fisherman is admitted in Rajawadi hospital with deep cuts in his right leg and injuries in his arms.

According to locals, the fisherman had gone deep into the lake waters to catch fish, he was sitting on a tyre tube waiting forfish when the crocodile attacked him.

The fisherman has badly injured his right leg in the incident. The doctor at Rajawadi hospital said, "We have treated the man for his injuries and he is now out of danger. When he was brought here, we thought that we would have to ampute his leg but he fortunately it is not required now."
Though fishing is banned in Powai Lake, the sweet water fish found in the lake is popular buy in the local market, which attracts fishermen to illegally enter the waterand do the fishing, said Forest Department(FD) officials.
The FD official told mid day that they will be installing information boards in the area tomorrow morning.
Sources from FD also informed that the case might be registered against the fisherman for illegally entering into the water.
In 2010 in another case of human-crocodile conflict, a 32 year old man was killed by a crocodile at Powai Lake
Assistan Conservator of Forest, Thane( Territorial) Kishor Thakare said, "The incident happened few days back and the person who was injured in the conflict had illegally entered Powai lake to catch fish. We will be having a meeting with BMC officials in couple of days and information boards will be installed informing people not to enter the water."
