Man held for molesting 7-year-old

A seven-year-girl was allegedly molested by a man who sneaked inside her house on the pretext of washing a piece of cloth when her parents were away. The incident took place at 4 pm in Kandivli underu00a0the jurisdiction of Samta Nagar Police station.

According to the locals, the accused, Nurol Islam Muktar Alam Shaikh (24), was known to the victim. "Shaikh asked the victim to wash a napkin following which he sneaked inside the house slyly and locked the door from inside. The incident took place at around 4 pm in Kandivli when the girl's parents were not at home," said Naveen Singh, a neighbour of the survivor.

When the mother, who had gone nearby to run some errands returned home, she noticed that the door was locked. On seeing the man inside her house with her daughter from the window, she cried for help. "Immediately after the incident, Shaikh was brought to the police station. He has been booked under Section 354 (molestation) of the Indian Penal Code," said Senior Police Inspector Pravin More from Samta Nagar police station.
