Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan is likely to make an announcement extending the cut-off date for regularisation of slums built till 2000, in the legislature tomorrow, sources said here today.

During a Cabinet meeting held today, ministers Naseem Khan and Chhagan Bhujbal made a forceful demand to implement an election promise to regularise slums built until the year 2000.

"Both ministers lamented that the election promise remained unfulfilled due to bureaucratic hurdles," sources said.

The concept of "slum free Mumbai" could be achieved only if such a decision is taken, they said.
