Navy officials claim it was an accident during patrolling; victim injured
A year after Mohammed Ajmal Qasab and his fellow terrorists entered the city in the fishing trawler M V Kuber and massacred nearly 200 people, Indian Navy commandos patrolling Mumbai's coast are still fearful of another such attack. In fact, a nervous commando on a search operation even opened fire on a fisherman last morning.
Weapon search
According to sources, naval ships were scouring the seas when they came across a fishing vessel north of Dahanu coast.
A team of commandos mounted the ship to search for weapons and explosives.
During the search, fisherman Jagan Pagi, the captain of the vessel, was injured by a 9 mm carbine bullet from a commando's gun. The other members of the crew were investigated for their possible terror links.

"We have yet to register a case," said Chandrakant Naik, senior inspector, Yellow Gate police station, in whose jurisdiction the incident occurred.
Naval spokesperson Captain Manohar Nambiar said the fisherman was injured when the gun went off accidentally.

"The injured man was airlifted to the naval hospital on the INHS Ashwini. His condition is stable," said Nambiar.
The Navy has stepped up patrolling around Mumbai for the anniversary of the 26/11 attacks.
A large number of naval ships have been deployed to prevent any ship sailing from Pakistan entering the country.
M V Kuber Saga
On November 23, 2008, the terrorists had sent out a distress signal to M V Kuber.
The Indian crew sailing in the fishing trawler from Gujarat, responded to the call. The terrorists then killed all the fishermen and used the boat to enter Mumbai on November 26, 2008.
