Opposing the Bombay High Court ban on the use of Plaster of Paris (PoP) for making Ganesh idols, Shiv Sena leaders are likely to meet Maharashtra chief minister Prithviraj Chavan.

Party executive president Uddhav Thackeray convened a meeting of idol makers at Sena Bhavan on Saturday to discuss their problems in view of the ban.

The ban was imposed by the Aurangabad bench of the Bombay HC on a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by Narendra Dabholkar in 2005. The court had ordered that the idols be made with soil and natural colours.
