A close friend of the Memons says that the family may have resigned itself to the SC's decision; but they have lost trust in the government and judiciary
"The family is just crying and breaking down inside the four walls of the house," said a neighbour of the Memon family, who has known them for a number of years. He preferred to remain anonymous. The neighbour says that the family has resigned itself to the Supreme Court's decision.

He added that the family especially the wife and daughter is going through intense trauma. "Everything is finished today," said the neighbour. The family is also not ready to speak to the media. There's a watchman outside the Al Hussain society who has been instructed not to let anybody in to visit the Memon family.

When mid-day tried to speak to a family friend who was coming out of the building, he said that he had been given strict instructions to keep mum, even to the extent of mentioning if the family was inside the building or otherwise. There is a police station near the family's house, and the local cops have placed barricades in the vicinity and are keeping a tight vigil to maintain law and order in the area.

The neighbour added, "Whatever happened in the past was wrong; whatever is happening now is also wrong. He surrendered himself to the government and it has totally forgotten that. What will the family say now? They have lost trust in the government and judiciary after this decision," said the neighbour.
