Pankaj Goel, partner, Re-fresh Food Plaza, said, "The thali is meant for one person only, but my staff has told us that quite often it is shared by more than one person. Initially, they were not able to refuse them, but I have told them to keep a watch and only then serve second helpings."
The 24x7 Plaza, one on the long-distance passenger section (AC) and on on the local side (non AC) is also plagued by drunks, who troop in late at night.
"We have decided to shut it down by 10 pm. There was a terrible incident where a female commuter was eating around 11 pm, and a drunk man came in and forcibly began eating from her plate. When we intervened, he said he was only trying to taste the food to see if it was similar to his order. There is no point in asking for security," said Goel.
However, neither the government railway police nor the railway protection force have received any complaint in this regard so far. Sandeep Khiratkar RPF's senior police inspector at CST and Dilip Mane, Sr inspector, GRP said, "If the food plaza wants security, it can be considered," they said.
Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation officials on the other hand said that they have no idea about the problems. "In case I receive any complaints from the licensee, I will surely ask for security," said R D Sharma, group GM, IRCTC.
