The city crime branch, which is investigating the double murder suspects that Rajbhar may have taken a job with some artistic professional and could have changed his looks to camouflage himself and avoid being identified.

An official said, "Rajbhar has worked in the profession and knows the job well. There are possibilities that he would have taken up a job to survive while being on the run. As part of investigations [we are in] the process of listing well known and lesser-known artists from Mumbai, South India and North India and then, the verifications from them will follow."

Sources said Rajbhar had contacted one of his family members residing in Saki Naka in February. His location was traced to a mobile shop in Southern India. He spoke to his relative and asked about the other members of his family and his location has been unavailable since. He is a key link in the case as he can help in ascertaining the motive of the double murder, which still remains unknown. His testimony is also important for knowing the role of Hema's estranged husband Chintan Upadhyay, who was arrested in connection with the case.
