Mumbai police said they recovered the head, hacked private parts, a couple of wristwatches and a sickle from the terrace of an MMRDA building at Vashi Naka
The mutilated body of a 45-year-old man was recovered from the terrace of an MMRDA building at Vashi naka yesterday around 10 am. The deceased, identified as Basu Rathod, had been missing since Sunday evening.

Officials from RCF police station said Rathod was attacked brutally before his killers beheaded him and chopped off his private parts. The mutilated body was discovered by one of Rathod's sons from his second
marriage. The Rathods are residents of Vashi naka in Chembur.

Senior Inspector Dilip Yadav from RCF police station said, "It's been over 24 hours since Basu was murdered, as his body had started decomposing. We recovered his head, private parts, a couple of wristwatches and a sickle from the crime scene. The body was found by his son Prakash in the same area where the entire Rathod family was searching for Basu."
Officials are now questioning Prakash and his brother Akash. "How did they come to know that the body had been lying in the MMRDA area? Hence, we called them to the police station for clarification," Yadav said.
Whodunnit
An FIR has been registered against unidentified assailant(s) under section 302 (punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code. In his complaint, Prakash said Basu had left home on Sunday at 6 pm without informing any of the family members. Unable to trace his whereabouts, the Rathods lodged a missing person complaint at the RCF police station on Monday at 2.25 pm.
