A Mumbai civic official was so severly beaten up by supporters of former Shiv Sena corporator Mohan Lokegaokar that he had to be admitted to the ICU of Bhabha Hospital in Bandra


A Mumbai civic official was so severely beaten up by supporters of former Shiv Sena corporator Mohan Lokegaokar that he had to be admitted to the ICU of Bhabha Hospital in Bandra.

Sayaji Ghadge, a colony officer with the H/West ward office, had gone to demolish an illegal construction in Bandra's Khotwadi area, when the incident occurred.

"The ground plus three construction was completely illegal. We had followed due procedure and sent them notices. When construction went on, our officials went there on Monday around 11 am to demolish the structure. Colony officer Ghadge was assaulted by Lokegaokar's men. He suffered injuries on his eyes, head and back. We immediately rushed him to Bhabha," informed Sharad Ughade, Assistant Municipal Commissioner of H/West ward.

Local ward officials shut down work for the rest of the day. The BMC has filed a police complaint against Lokegaokar and his supporters.
