The event began with 10 young victims of the carnage. Rohan Kamble (14), who lost his father at the Taj, received resounding applause when he said, "I want to become the managing director of Taj."

As Anup Jalota sang bhajans, PCGT chairman B G Deshmukh said, "We all have to work together to make sure such an attack never recurs. In case it does, our forces should be equipped to give a fitting reply to the terrorists."
De-politicise forceIt was Mumbai police commissioner D Sivanandan's words that seemed to shake the rafters of the theatre.
He said, "Mumbai has had so many bomb blasts, but we seem to forget everything in the aftermath. We may forgive, but we should never forget. Candlelight vigils are not the answer."
Former police commissioner Julio Ribeiro stressed on de-politicising the police force. "If politicians want to run the police force, they should wear a police uniform and run it," he ended.
