Someone had spotted the makeshift grave and uploaded a video of it on social media, and it went viral
A widely shared video showing a makeshift grave near Bangur Nagar Link Road, Malad West triggered panic on Tuesday and spawned several theories. The hullabaloo ended with the discovery of a goat carcass.
Police sources said a clip of a grave-like structure near the creek adjoining Ryan International School began doing the rounds, sending locals into a frenzy. Some said it was black magic and human sacrifice, while a few called it a murder cover-up.
As a crowd gathered at the spot, the police were alerted. A team of cops barricaded the area and waited for the high tide to recede to access the spot. The makeshift grave was then dug up and the carcass of a goat was unearthed.
An officer from Bangur Nagar Link Road police station said, "The spot is next to the creek inside some bushes. No one knows who buried the animal there."
