Palghar cops book 4 for holding captive, assaulting tribal man in Satara

Palghar Police have taken legal action against four people for allegedly confining and assaulting a tribal man from the area. According to an official statement, a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act of 1976, and the Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act at Satara's Koregaon police station.

Krishna Nagde (40), a worker in Satara's sugar sector, is the focus of the case. According to reports, from October 10, 2023, to January 8, workers at many sugar mills were denied additional compensation for their efforts. Some staff left due to a perceived lack of further pay.

According to the lawsuit, the defendants held Nagde captive and physically assaulted him because they suspected him of inciting workers to flee. The accused include a supervisor from a sugar mill. There have been no arrests made concerning the event.

The police are acting in response to the victim's claim that the accused forced her into confinement and physically abused her. The filing of the FIR is the first stage in the legal process of investigating the alleged mistreatment of Krishna Nagde and holding those involved accountable for their conduct.

A man, 36, was hurt when he attempted to break up a fight during a meeting of the village improvement committee in Navi Mumbai. He was allegedly attacked by a group of people, officials told PTI. According to an official, the event happened on Sunday night in the Sonarigaon neighbourhood of JNPT, Uran, while the committee's panel was chairing the meeting. He claimed that during a conversation between a man and a few villagers taking part in the committee election, there was an argument, the PTI report stated.

According to the official, some locals attacked Bharat Kadu, the man's brother and a JNPT employee, with iron rods and sticks in an attempt to settle the argument. He was hurt, the PTI report added.

The PTI report stated that seven villagers were charged on Monday with violating section 324 of the Indian Penal Code (which deals with intentionally inflicting harm through the use of dangerous weapons or means) as well as other pertinent laws and the Maharashtra Police Act. The official stated that there have not yet been any arrests in this matter.
