Western Railway (WR) has recently arrested a person issuing fake identity cards to those wanting to travel by Mumbai local trains.
Sumit Thakur - Chief Public Relations officer of Western Railway said Railway Police Force (RPF) played a crucial role in the arrest of the accused.
Western Railway's RPF provided preliminary information such as phone number and telegram messages of the accused and filed complaint in Vasai Road police station against him for making fake passes. Based on the same information, the accused who is a resident of Virar was arrested on January 11. A case was filed against him under Section 420, 465 and 468 of the Indian Penal Code.
Western Railway currently runs 1201 Special Suburban services for Essential Services Staff, female passengers and other categories as notified by the government of Maharashtra, only during a stipulated time.
Considering the present scenario, WR has constantly advised that only specific essential staff categories should travel in these special suburban services. However, in the latest development, Western Railway has detected the accused issuing fake IDs and nabbed him.
Thakur has requested citizens to cooperate with the present norms and follow the instructions given for their own safety. He said that travelling with unauthorized Identity Card is a punishable offence. And only specific essential services staffers are allowed to travel.
