A dentist based in Mumbai's
Malad suburb was booked for sexually abusing a minor and abetting her suicide.
According to the police sources, the incident happened in Malad East's Kurar area. The minor, aged 17, was working as a compounder at the dentist's clinic; she ended her life in the clinic by hanging herself on December 28.
Sources said that the girl's mental condition had deteriorated which likely pushed her to resort to such a grave measure.
Based on a complaint of the family members, Kurar police registered a case on Thursday under the
Indian Penal Code sections related to rape, the Juvenile Justice Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act).
An officer from Kurar police station said, no arrest has been made yet, investigation into the case is underway.
