Unit 11 of the Mumbai Crime Branch on Wednesday arrested 10 Nepali nationals for allegedly procuring fake Aadhaar cards and other Indian nationality documents with the help of agents by paying huge sums.
According to Crime Branch, unit 11 led by inspector Sunil Mane and his team, last week, arrested two persons namely Vinod Chauhan and Umesh Choudhary, who were involved in making fake Aadhaar cards. "During the investigation, they revealed about providing Aadhaar cards and other documents to Nepali nationals who were using the same documents for Indian Citizenship," DCP Akbar Pathan of Mumbai Crime Branch said.
Following the revelations, the Crime Branch team tracked ten Nepali nationals and after interrogation, arrested all of them. The Nepali nationals were arrested under various sections of the India Penal Code (IPC) and have been sent to police custody till February 12 for further investigation.
During the investigation, police officials found out that the accused were also involved in making fake college mark sheets, insurance policy, school leaving certificates and domicile certificates, and other important documents using photoshop.
The crime branch seized multiple fake Aadhaar cards, Pan cards, birth certificates, etc, and the equipments used in forging the documents.
