Four men on motorcycles robbed a businessman of Rs 35 lakh on Western Express Highway on Monday evening, said police.
According to Samta Nagar police, the incident occurred at 6 pm on Monday when the complainant, identified as Sandeep Gujjar, 40, was on his way from Malad towards Mira Road in his Fortuner car. Four men on motorcycles intercepted his vehicle. Two of them tailed his car and the remaining blocked the vehicle from front, said police.
"Gujjar halted the car. One of the robbers opened the car door, held the victim's collar and asked him to get off. When Gujjar exited the vehicle, another motorcyclist broke the window glass of the passenger seat and flicked with the bag containing cash," said a police officer.
After the bikers fled, Gujjar called up the police control room. He also realised that he was being followed by a car.

Officers from Samta Nagar police station reached the spot and detained few suspects following the victim in a car.
The police are now tracing the four motorcyclists.
"We believe that it was an inside job as the robbers were aware of Gujjar's car, the time he left for Mira Road and also about the money he was carrying along," said Anandrao Hanke, senior police inspector of Samta Nagar police station.
The police are also scanning the CCTV footages of the roads leading to the spot to find out identities of the robbers.
