Mumbai Crime: 2 intercepted for delivering 23.9 kg Codeine-based cough syrup in Dharavi

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Monday intercepted two people from Dharavi and seized 23.9 kg Codeine-based cough syrup from them, said NCB officials.

Three days ago, about 20 kg of Codeine-based cough syrup was also seized in the city. The accused were identified as Siraj Ahmed and Md. Saddam.

On Monday, NCB officials got a tip-off that the accused were going to deliver a consignment of Codeine-based cough syrup. Accordingly, an NCB team intercepted the duo and seized 23.9 kg of the contraband from them.

The accused have been previously booked under various sections of IPC and NDPS act. NCB is investigating to detect the bulk supply chain of such cough syrups. Further investigation is on.
