Mumbai: 40-year-old woman found dead near her house in Aarey colony

The body of a 40-year-old woman was found near her house in Gautam Nagar at Aarey colony on Thursday morning. The deceased has been identified as Sakru Sairaj Gambhir.

According to police sources, the deceased's elder daughter saw the body and informed the police. The Aarey police sent the body to Cooper Hospital in Andheri for autopsy.

"The body had several injury marks on the forehead and chest. The police have registered a murder case and investigation is on," said an officer from Aarey police station.

The victim has two daughters. The elder daughter is married and resides in the same locality, while the younger daughter was living with one of her relatives in Marol. The victim's husband passed away a year ago and since then she was living alone.

Further investigation revealed that she had close relations with a man from the same locality. The man, a plumber, usually visited her house and they used to drink together.

On Wednesday night, the two had an argument and next morning, she was found dead near her house. The police have detained the plumber and also the victim's son-in-law for interrogation.

DCP DS Swami zone XII said a murder case has been registered and the investigation is going on.
