The incident follows a previous acid attack on Shaikh, sources added.
Residing in Ashiyana society at Gopcharpada in Virar East, Shaikh faced the attack on Monday, January 15, around 7:30 am, while he was at home. An unknown man knocked on his door, accompanied by another person standing outside his house window. As Shaikh approached the door, the unknown man fired a shot, the police said.
A police official stated that the authorities are checking the CCTV footage to trace the shooters. Shaikh, already a victim of a previous acid attack, managed to escape unscathed in this recent incident. While the community experienced fear after the attack, the police said, adding that the situation in the area is now under control.
