Palghar: Three persons have been arrested in connection with the theft of copper pipes, used in refrigerators, worth about Rs 13.27 lakhs from an industrial area here, police said today.
Copper pipes worth Rs 13.27 lakhs were stolen from Tube Tech Copper and Allies Pvt Ltd, in Boisar industrial estate of Palghar district on July 19, local crime branch's senior inspector Kishore Khairnar told reporters here.
On August 3, police spotted two persons, Lalchand Sumga Yadav (30) and Ravindara Dhanushdhari Upadhyaya (30), moving in a suspicious manner near the Bidco Company and apprehended them.
It was found that they were involved in the theft and some robberies in the area, he said, adding that two country-made revolvers and five live cartridges were also recovered from their possession. Offences were registered against the duo under sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act.
Later, police also nabbed another person, Anubhav Atmaram Kini, in connection with the theft. Police suspect involvement of 3-4 more persons in the theft case, the police officer said, adding that they were yet to recover the stolen pipes. Kharinar said various crime incidents reported in Boisar, Palghar and Satpati are likely to be solved with the arrest of the trio who operated in the region.
