"On December 15, a truck of Kazi's met with an accident near the Indapur toll plaza and the driver of the truck, Ganesh Sawant, was detained by the police," SP Sarang Awad of the ACB said. "Damase, who did the panchnama, had then demanded Rs 25,000 from Kazi to spare the truck and not register any case against the driver."

Awad said Kazi approached the ACB office and lodged a complaint, after which he bargained the amount down to Rs 5,000 and told Damase he would get the money on Sunday afternoon. "We then laid a trap near the Indapur bus stand, where the money was being handed over to Damase, and while he was accepting the cash we arrested him," he said.u00a0
