About 17 women were rescued from a dance bar in Andheri, police said on Monday.

As per a report in NDTV, during a raid at the premises, the women were found inside a secret basement which was connected to a make-up room.

Police said the dance bar officials hid the women with help of an advanced electronic system placed at its premises after they came to know about the raid.

The police raid was conducted on Saturday at Deepa bar in Andheri. Cops had a tip-off that women were being made to dance in front of customers there. Initially, cops searched the bathroom, storage room and the kitchen at the bar but couldn't find the women.

"The bar manager, cashier, and the waiter were also questioned but they kept on denying that dance women were used in the bar," said a police official.

However, what caught the cops' attention was a large mirror in the make-up room. An effort to remove the mirror from the wall turned out to be unsuccessful as it was found that it had been very strategically attached to it.

The mirror was later broken with a hammer and a passage that led to the secret basement was found inside. Seventeen dancers were found inside the hidden dungeon. The hidden basement had all the facilities like AC, beds, officials said.

A case has been registered against the staff including the bar's manager and cashier.
