A fitness platform for children is bringing back the gift of outdoor activities to facilitate functional training

On-ground sessions held by Kleinetics

Two years and on, we are still grappling to construct an effective new normal. The pandemic has altered our lives permanently. But Covid-19 has probably struck the idea of childhood with a harsher blow. Children, from infancy to adolescence, were forced to spend their playtime indoors. While the country is at the cusp of a health crisis due to the combined effects of lifestyle and genetics, Kleinetics is helping kids to aspire for physical literacy. The platform defines physical literacy as a person's physical competence for purposeful activities in different types of environments.

Sai Gogu, product developer at Kleinetics, says, "We had put our outdoor sessions on hold when Omicron cases were peaking. But we are steadily hosting these workshops again. To ensure safety - which is often difficult with kids - we form small batches of six to eight attendees. Our trainers visit housing societies and clubs to train children in a familiar environment, and kids are asked to have their masks on." Gogu adds that their trainers get tested for the virus regularly. The upcoming outdoor sessions by Kleinetics include yoga, free-hand exercises, animal flow and programmes to improve motor skills, among other things. Gogu shares, "Our programmes allow children to play at their own pace, while shining a light on the areas that need attention." The platform is holding sessions that are specifically designed for special kids.
