The competition is aimed at kids between seven and 12 years of age
The increasing screen time that children have been exposed to thanks to over-reliance on gadgets has left many parents worried. Involving their children in online educational activities might as well be a chance to put this unhealthy habit to some use. Learnifii, an ed-tech platform for building skills such as problem-solving, communication, creativity and critical thinking in kids, is organising an English grammar competition for kids between seven and 12 years of age this weekend.
The virtual competition will consist of age-relevant exercises as the platform believes that games have become crucially important for English language learners and teachers. This is not only because they provide enjoyment and relaxation, but also because they encourage students to use their language in a creative and communicative manner.
The competition will be conducted in three rounds, and the details of each round will be shared during the session. Topics such as figures of speech; sentence formation; suffix and prefix; homophones; tenses; active and passive voice; and basic and moderate comprehension will be covered. Winners will be declared based on the number of correct responses and the time taken by the contestant to submit the correct response.
Twisha Prasad, founder of the platform, said, "The goal of the competition is to enable kids to apply grammar and use it in a fun way. This ensures they have a better chance of retaining it all. They'll be able to practise and internalise grammar phenomena extensively rather than just learning a bunch of rules superficially."
The platform has already conducted more than 50 competitions attended by over 20,000 participants. They offer other programmes on public speaking, creative writing, astronomy, entrepreneurship, general knowledge, logical reasoning, and more to develop such skills.
