Padukone in clothes from Purple Paisley
SHHHH. There is a secret that we are about to divulge to you, but we can't tell you much about it. There is a gig this weekend at Lower Parel venue AntiSocial where music will merge with fashion. We can tell you about the music bit, revealing how Sixth Ocean will play a set that involves house and techno tracks, before three other electronic music producers - Zuzu, Choksi and antiSKYE - take over the controls.
The fashion part, though, is meant to be a surprise, which we don't want to spoil. All we can say is that a brand called Purple Paisley is behind it and their clothes involve edgy street-style fashion endorsed by celebrities like Kareena Kapoor Khan and Deepika Padukone. The idea for the event emerged about a month ago when Vivek Dudani, programming head at AntiSocial, was in conversation with Arissa Khan, founder of Purple Paisley, when they coincidentally met at a gig organised at the same venue. But the seeds of it were sown in March, when Sixth Ocean was supposed to play a concert called Space Odyssey. But the second wave of the pandemic poured water on that plan. Then, when Dudani and Khan were having that tête-à -tête recently, they figured that it was a good idea to merge the fashion-themed event that she had in mind with the space-themed concert.
"She told me about these fashion events that take place in warehouses in Europe, which she wanted to replicate," Dudani tells us, with Khan adding that they have envisioned a fashion and music escapade. "It's a one-of-a-kind event," she says, adding that she can't reveal much about the fashion bit. It's meant to be a secret, like we said, and if you want to find out what it is, you'll just have to attend the event.
