A glimpse of the previous edition of Lock The Box in Bengaluru
Bookchor is handing over the keys to booklovers' paradise with their latest edition of Lock The Box. At this online book sale, you pay for a box and carry home all the books you can fit in it. Expect access to a large collection of used and new books across languages and genres. Meenal and Vidyut Sharma, founders of Haryana-based BookChor, tell us that the idea behind their venture that they began in 2016 was to make books affordable.
Lock The Box, a state-wise event, is now coming to Maharashtra for 10 days in a fully digitised avatar. The duo explains, "We need to maintain the same offline user experience in an online mode. So our AI system works to optimise the space of the box, in a way that's better than what humans can do."

The company is known for its customer service. Thane-based Sameeksha Manerkar, who tried the service, shares, "They are very considerate about their packaging. They add free bookmarks and badges, and also a thank you note. Receiving a handwritten note is really the best feeling in the world." Manerkar, an avid bookgrammer at @sameeksha_reads, tells us that she received 15 books including a hardcover and two books that exceeded 500 pages in the Perseus Box. "They packed it so well. I couldn't have fit so many books myself, but BookChor makes sure the readers get as many books as possible." Vidyut, who is 38, notes with a chuckle that in the past, the founders have received handwritten replies from customers. "Our goal is to also maintain high-quality standards with a personalised connection with the users. We share videos and pictures before dispatching the box full of books so that customers have no doubts about the condition of the used books," Meenal and Vidyut conclude.
