While experts credit the popularity of this trend as being a throwback to simpler times, as Deepika Padukone recently proved in a social media post, it is possible to re-imagine this pattern through a more contemporary lens. "Pick cleaner silhouettes," advises stylist Ashna Makhijani.

A tie-dye pattern in unconventional and playful colours is a great way to update your everyday looks. Make sure to keep the rest of your outfit simple by pairing this set with plain sneakers so that the print is the focal point of your look, Makhijani explains.
