Tie-dye has been one of the strongest fashion trends of 2020 and this year, the theme continues to dominate the fashion charts in a slightly more grown-up avatar. While experts credit the popularity of this trend as being a throwback to simpler times, as Deepika Padukone recently proved in a social media post, it is possible to re-imagine this pattern through a more contemporary lens. "Pick cleaner silhouettes," advises stylist Ashna Makhijani.

Tie-dye coordinates

A tie-dye pattern in unconventional and playful colours is a great way to update your everyday looks. Make sure to keep the rest of your outfit simple by pairing this set with plain sneakers so that the print is the focal point of your look, Makhijani explains.

Summery dresses

Flowing feminine dresses work well with this trend, as long as you stick to a predominantly neutral tone. For a bohemian look, which works well with lighter fabrics, pair the dress with bangles and gladiator-style sandals, while thicker fabrics are better paired with sporty sneakers.

Indian wear

In a more diffused format, Shibori prints can add a fresh touch to your Indian wear, says Makhijani. She recommends picking soft pastel colours, such as blush pinks and light blues, and wearing minimal jewellery so that your accessories do not compete with your outfit.
