Quirky product store Roti Kapada Makaan invites bites as the Bandra-based eatery, Gostana, opens a small café in the store. Between a munch and a swallow, the place leaves much to be desired

Gostana's outpost in Bandra had several loyalists for its tasty burgers that are made using myriad combinations. Hence, as an outlet in the ever-so-funny store Roti Kapda Makaan in Lower Parel looked like an invite for a quick bite for several corporate-wallahs who trapeze around the locality.

Pursuing the bid, we decided to stop by one afternoon. The store doesn't have any alterations to adopt the café. It's just a corner where you can sit and wait for your order. And wait is what we did, a real long one. Our order from the tiny menu comprised Spinach Cottage Cheese Burger ('310), Herb Spread sandwich ('185), and a Hummus sandwich ('170).
The Spinach Cottage Cheese Burger was a great choice, which felt filling yet healthy at the same time with its gooey patty-style filling of a mash of different spices. The Herb Spread sandwich tasted like a mayo and basil chutney mix and didn't justify the price. As for the last order, our bill mentioned a Rummus sandwich (which their Facebook page informs is a Rajma spread) and we were charged for Hummus sandwich, which we didn't get. What we did get was a tasty mayo and veggie-style spread with pickled veggies on the side that we would definitely like to recommend.

The prices are definitely steep and we wonder if office-goers would prefer spending '300 on lunch everyday. But the worst bit was the 35-minute wait for our order. Worth the wait? You decide.
