Just off from shooting for Breathe, a web series for Amazon Prime, veteran actor, columnist, producer, director Neena Kulkarni tells us how theatre is the only medium that remains an actor's domain.

"Every other medium including web, films, or TV are technical mediums where you are only contributing. Having said that, it is important to truly understand and appreciate the medium you are acting in and to be convinced of it - only then can you give some depth to the character you are playing," says Kulkarni, who plays the popular character of Mrs Iyer on daily soap Yeh Hai Mohabattein. It's interesting how after 45 years in the industry, Kulkarni still finds herself extremely vulnerable during rehearsals.

This evening, Kulkarni can get you on a fast track to understanding the nuances of acting with Junoon's Mumbai Local. Living many lives: On building and performing characters is an exclusive session in English and Hindi by her on how to convincingly portray diverse characters, and make the performance seem effortless. Her own acting journey began on the Marathi stage in the 1970s. "My journey in the field has been like water. Fluid with all its hits and misses.

And I like it that way. I've been sailing with whatever has come my way," says Kulkarni who has won several awards, including the National Award for her stellar performances across mediums.
