Three popular names from the Indian Classical music circuit - sitar maestro Niladri Kumar, slide guitarist Deepak Kshirsagar and vocalist Jayateerth Mevundi - will take the stage later this week for a charitable concert.
Titled Oasis - Music In Summer, the event has been conceived and curated by Pancham Nishad. This will be a fundraising show to aid the Inga health foundation that helps underprivileged children seek medical treatment.
Kumar is excited about being part of the noble initiative. "It is an honour to perform for the cause of helping children born with cleft and craniofacial deformity," says Kumar, who calls Classical music "the most natural progression" for him. "For everything else that I do, my basis still remains my classical tradition."
Mevundi is looking forward to entertaining music aficionados with his act. "Since the event is for a special cause, I wish to make it more special for music lovers by presenting ragas that I don't sing often," he reveals.
