He is also the first ever Indian editor of EUROTIMES the magazine of the European society of cataract and laser surgeons (ESCRS)

Until 2016 we used to use phaco (which was mistakenly called laser). Here first we made a cut in the eye with a blade and then we removed the human lens (cataract or motia ) from the eye by an ultrasound vibrating tip (like a jackhammer which is used to break the road. The only downside to this is that it generates shockwaves and heat which can burn the inner surface of the cornea.

The laser on the other hand makes a 2 millimeter painless tunnel into the eye and melts the cataract with cold laser without any rise of temperature. So it's much safer and easier. The entire procedure can be over as fast as under 3-4 minutes.

There is no chance of heating up of the inside of the eye and burning of the inner layer of the cornea even in the hardest cataract.

In high diabetic or in a person with high BP or on blood thinners after heart surgery

Laser is safer, there is zero chance of bleeding, recovery is also faster.

With the new generation trifocal and extended depth (EDOF) lenses most patients can enjoy spectacle free vision at all distances as a CALLISTO system uses computerized "image guidance" to correctly position the lens. Patients find that their vision is good enough to resume work in just 2 days and even drive!

Multifocal and Toric lenses are implanted in the via image guidance called CALLISTO.

Even for glaucoma we were the first in the country to acquire a Nano SLT non-invasive laser system which can painlessly reduce eye pressure in 5 mins.

We are the only eye centre in Maharashtra to have all 4 technologies

1.laser cataract

2.smile laser

3.active sentry centurion

4.Callisto image guidance system

5.NANO SLT for glaucoma

Till 2015 there was no alternative to LASIK

The drawback of LASIK is that a thin layer is cut with or without a blade on the surface of the eye called a "flap" under which the laser energy is put to remove the number. The issue here is that once you cut a flap you cut thousands of tiny corneal nerves. Sometimes this leads to a lot of dryness after surgery besides weakening the cornea. The other issue was that LASIK has been also shown to weaken the cornea to a certain extent and many cases of higher minus numbers have glare at night.

To counter these issues of glare, weakness and dryness the SMILE technology was invented in Germany.

Here the laser system in 30 seconds without any flap cut, painlessly removes the spectacle number smoothly and painlessly all the way till -10.

Vision recovers in one day and is good enough to go back to work and drive.

You can wear eye makeup and even swim by the third day since there is no flap cut on the eye.
