With several festivities like Navratri, Dussers and Diwali being lined up for the coming months, all of you must be rushing to parlours and beauticians for beauty tips and treatments to get a glowing skin and look beautiful. Why spend time and money on beauty parlours when your house is stuffed with natural ingredients that are ideal to get a healthy and radiant skin? Dr. Apratim Goel lists down top six natural ways to get a glowing skin during the festive season:

1. Cleansing: Make a scrub of 1/4 of a cucumber, two tablespoons of yogurt and two tablespoons of oatmeal. Cleansing your face with this natural scrub thoroughly removes dirt and gives a glowing skin. Though cleansing milk or baby oil can be used to cleanse dry skin, yet this natural scrubber is anytime better than cleansing milk available in the market.

2. Bleaching: Mild bleaching of the skin helps to remove dead cells and bleach fine hair. Those with dry skin need to be careful while bleaching because even mild bleaching can worsen dry skin. Grated radish acts as a natural bleach and is a perfect medicine for dry skin type. Grate handful of radish, apply it all over your face and naturally lighten your skin at home.

3. Steam facial: This is another natural way to get a glowing skin. Steam facial improves circulation by dilating the blood vessels. It also helps melt excess oil and dirt that clogs up the pores. A steam facial is also advisable for easy extraction of black heads. There is no need to visit a beauty parlour for to get a steam facial done. Nowadays, handy steam machines are available for undergoing a quick steam facial at home.



4. Massage: A 10 minute gentle and rhythmic strokes of massage relaxes the muscles, increases blood supply and slows down the ageing process by reducing wrinkles and fine lines. Make a natural moisturizer by adding few drops of lime, one tablespoon of milk and two tablespoons of milk cream in a bowl. Sit back, massage your face gently with the homemade moisturizer, relax and get a refreshing look in a short time.

5. Face masks: Though several face masks are available in the market, yet the best one is made at home using natural ingredients. Make a face mask comprising of oatmeal and egg whites and apply it on the skin. Leave it for 15 minutes, rinse and pat dry. Those with dry skin can try honey banana face mask. Take a small bowl of blended yogurt and add a bit of mash ripe banana and two teaspoons of honey to it. Apply the mask thoroughly on your face and rinse after a while. Curd makes for an excellent skin hydrant, and its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory properties will help soothe your dry, itchy skin.

6. Exfoliating: Mild exfoliation with a homemade scrub ensures thorough removal of makeup, dirt, grime and dead cells from the skin. Make a scrub comprising of a small quantity of wheat flour, milk cream and rose water. Rub this pack on your face and hands to remove the dead cells.
